I spent the late afternoon shooting The Citadel men’s X-Country team training in Hampton Park next to the campus.

The Summerall Chapel at The Citadel, Charleston, SC

Some things we remember all of our lives.  I remember being commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps here in the Summerall Chapel at The Citadel in Charleston, SC as if it were yesterday.  I trod many long miles to get to that moment.  And I have lived a lifetime since.

I regularly drive through the campus at The Citadel as I go about my days as a retired guy.  The faces looking back at me get younger and younger all of the time.  I wonder if they are excited about what lies ahead of them.  I wonder if they, too, will always return with fond memories and nostalgic longings.

This is a HDR image of the chapel.  I spent quite a bit of time in post processing to ensure the image turned out as realistic-looking as possible.  Too many times I see HDR overdone and cartoonish.  I used five bracketed shots from -2EV to +2EV, and processed them in Photomatix plug-in for Aperture.  I sent the image over to Photoshop for final curves, sharpening, and saving for the web.
