Reflections on a year in 365 photographs

with 2 comments

Two strobes, a chair, and a wistful glance made todays portrait a winner in my book.  I’d love to know what is on her mind!

Lesson for the day:  Saturation is not always a good thing.  I desaturated this photo on purpose to give it an older, film-like look.

Comments and critiques always appreciated…

  1. The lower level of saturation and the soft outer glow layer style lend an interesting effect. If a mild gaussian blur were added I believe you would have yourself a photo that would be hard to tell from a true oil painting.

  2. Truth be known, that outer glow is simply an oversharpening halo. I could have gone back and adjusted for stronger contrast, among other things, to achieve the same effect with less need for sharpening, and therefore no halo, but once I saw this, I decided that it was “good enough” for a 365 entry. If I print this I will go back and clean it up a bit.
